The criteria used by each search engine differs regarding the kinds of materials filtered.
| GENERAL SEARCH ENGINES WITH FILTERING

 Alta Vista
- Offers "AV Family Filter" as an option on its regular search page (click on Settings). See more details on their Frequently Asked Questions page.
- Lycos
- Offers Search Guard. It aims to protect children from seeing sites with offensive materials and restricts access to certain areas and links including chat, e-mail and message boards.
| KID'S SEARCH ENGINES WITH FILTERING

- Ask for Kids
- A database of staff-researched answers to questions asked by kids. Includes only "G-rated" pages and those written for children.

- One Key
- Filters out all of the sites on the Net that do not meet Network TV Standards. For more details, see their About OneKey page.
