Women's club was organized in 1927 and federated in 1939. The object of the club was united effort toward personal improvement, higher education, and social progress. Their club motto was "Better is Wisdom than all Precious Things." They also corresponded with eleven women's clubs in Central and South America in the late 1930s. This particular club was located in Minneapolis, MN, or in the fifth congressional district among many other women's clubs tied to the larger Minnesota Federation of Women's Clubs.
Description of the Collection
Collection includes programs (1945-1952) and (1964-1966), and one clipping. Each program gives the leadership and membership for the particular year, the club motto, study topics, and agendas for each meeting. Some topics include "North Brazil and the Amazon" and "South American Literature and Art." The clipping describes a Pan-American event planned between the Iota Club and eleven women`s groups in Central and South America, which was aired by WTCN Broadcasting.
