History
The League was founded in 1919 to promote the political education of newly enfranchised women citizens. Locally, the League works to improve public policy in the city, region, and state. It focuses its efforts in three major areas: non-partisan voter information; research and action; and community development. The League publishes booklets on local government, elected offices, voting, and other key issues. They sponsor candidate and issue forums, "get out the vote" rallies, as well as being at the forefront of discussion on critical public issues. The League is a national organization that admits any women for membership who is of voting age.
