History
The Minnesota Territory was formed on March 3, 1849. Formed out of portions of the Wisconsin Territory and Iowa Territory, the territory also included the parts of present day North and South Dakota east of the Missouri River.
Collection Description
The collection consists of one scrapbook of newspaper clippings concerning the centennial of the Minnesota Territory's founding in 1849. The year long celebration of that centennial included historical exhibits, stage and theatrical productions, and a Centennial queen who was chosen during the 1949 St. Paul Winter Carnival. The clippings also include reminiscences from longtime residents of Minnesota.
