Hennepin County libraries offer a wide range of educational and cultural events to reflect and engage the county’s diverse communities.
During Pride month this June and beyond, Hennepin County libraries have free Pride events for LGBTQIA adults, teens and families.
The events lead up to and complement the Library’s participation in the annual Twin Cities Pride Festival in Loring Park, Minneapolis, on June 23-24. We'll be there from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. each day.
Golden Valley Pride Festival - Staff from Golden Valley Library will be Golden Valley Pride Festival on Sunday, June 10, noon-6 p.m.
Twin Cities Pride Family Picnic - Staff from Minneapolis Central Library will be doing a story stroll for "Red: A Crayon's Story," at the Pride Family Picnic, Sunday, June 17, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Como Park.
LGBTQIA Pride Wikipedia Edit-a-thon - Do you want to make Wikipedia more inclusive and accurate about LGBTQIA topics? Citizens of all orientations, gender identities and expressions are invited to participate in this communal updating of Wikipedia's entries for LGBTQIA Pride month. No editing experience necessary. If you have a laptop, please bring it. Funded by Minnesota's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. At Minneapolis Central Library, Saturday, June 30, noon-4 p.m. This is partnership with Quatrefoil Library and they will host a Wikipedia Edit-a-thon on Saturday, July 28, noon-4 p.m.
On Screen: Moonlight - Join us for a screening and discussion of Moonlight, a movie that chronicles the childhood, adolescence and burgeoning adulthood of a young, African-American, gay man growing up in a rough neighborhood of Miami. Sponsor: Friends of the Augsburg Park Library. Partner: Richfield Human Rights Commission.
