Hennepin County Library – Brooklyn Park at 8600 Zane Ave. N. will close for relocation on Sunday, May 29 at 5 p.m.
The new Brooklyn Park Library at 8500 W. Broadway Ave. will open on Thursday, June 23
at 5 p.m. with remarks by local officials and a ribbon-cutting. On Saturday, June 25, the library will host a community celebration and special events 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
The new $23.5 million library will have a dynamic play and learn space for families, a teen-focused tech center, and flexible individual and collaborative work spaces for all ages. The new library is more than twice the size of the current library, and it will open with expanded hours, staffing and resources, including more computers.
“The new Brooklyn Park Library will be a fantastic state-of-the-art facility,” said District 1 Hennepin County Commissioner Mike Opat. “It was very thoughtfully designed with community input, and it will be a landmark in the city for decades to come.”
During the closure for relocation, Brooklyn Park Library patrons are encouraged to visit other Hennepin County libraries: Brookdale Library is located at 6125 Shingle Creek Pkwy. in Brooklyn Center; Champlin Library is at 12154 Ensign Ave. N.; Maple Grove Library is at 8001 Main St. N; and Osseo Library is at 415 Central Ave.
Requests with Brooklyn Park Library as the pickup location will change to Brookdale Library automatically. Patrons may choose an alternate pickup location for their requests through My Account.
The book return at Brooklyn Park Library will also be closed during this time. Books and other library materials may be renewed or returned to another Hennepin County library.
