This is one of my all-time favorite books. I’ve been recommending it to friends and family (and to anyone who will listen) for years. When reading it, you’ll understand why it won a Pulitzer for best fiction. An essential read!

A great book! Quintessentially American with humor, grit, and epic grandeur. You will be hooked from the beginning when you meet Gus berating his little pigs and the story takes off. Larry McMurtry’s characters (both male and female) are as real as can be and their travails become your travails in the torturous trek from dusty Lonesome Dove to Montana. I agree with Priscilla, this is an "essential read!"
