Girl Reading

About the art

When it comes to the work of artist Malcolm Moran, the Excelsior Library is in good company. Moran’s art has appeared in the personal collections of Bill and Hillary Clinton, Clint Eastwood, Nelson Rockefeller, Joe Montana, Liz Taylor and Harry Belafonte, to name a few. The Seattle-born sculptor is best known for his metal sculptures of children, and that’s what you’ll find here in the library. This bronze piece captures an innocent—and beautifully common—moment: a young girl sitting on a rock reading.

Donated in memory of Susan Price Boquist (1958-1969)
