About the art
This sculpture of Martin Luther King Jr. offers a little glimpse of what you’ll find if you visit the memorial statues at the Minnesota State Capitol. And for good reason: It served as a model for the larger bronze version installed at the Capitol in 1986. It’s one of several notable memorial sculptures from artist George Bassett, whose other works include a statue of Hubert H. Humphrey and one of Sigurd Olson, both featured at the capitol.
