Cargill Gallery presents: 1934 & Now

Hennepin County Library announces its next Cargill Gallery exhibit: 1934 & Now, Connections of the Minneapolis Truckers’ Strike of 1934. This exhibit presents work that connects local labor history, current issues, and the role of workers in bringing social change. The show coincides with the strike’s 90th anniversary and includes banners, photographs, installations, drawings, paintings, tapestries, and video.

Contributing artists: Mike Alewitz, Rachel Breen, Keith Christensen, Olivia Levins Holden, Mike Rivard, Juxtaposition Arts, Carolyn Olson, and Brooks Turner.

Visit the exhibit at the Cargill Gallery, located on the second floor of Minneapolis Central Library from June 3 to July 28, 2024.

  • Saturday, June 8, 3-5 p.m. – Artist Reception in Cargill Gallery
  • Saturday, June 15, 2-5 p.m. – Exhibition tour followed by a panel discussion with labor historian Peter Rachleff and artists
  • Sunday, June 23, 1-4 p.m. – Film screenings in Pohlad Hall of labor history and contemporary issues. Films showing: Labor’s Turning Point, Breaking Walls, A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to Despair, and Dissent Minnesota.
