Kanopy Subscription Ending May 11

Hennepin County Library will discontinue its subscription to Kanopy, an on-demand video streaming service, effective May 11, 2026.

Guided by our Collection Development and Management Policy, we regularly evaluate resources and balance collection spending across numerous formats, databases, and subject areas to meet the diverse needs of our community.

While we strive to offer a variety of engaging digital content, the cost of video streaming services is no longer sustainable. Discontinuing Kanopy is one step we are taking to prioritize core services while continuing to provide materials that are highly used and valued by our patrons.

Other ways to access digital content with your library card

Your Hennepin County Library card continues to provide access to:

• Libby/OverDrive Digital Library offers 24/7 access eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines, and more through the Libby app.
• A wide range of online databases, research tools and subject-specific resources available on our Online Resources page.
• DVDs are available for checkout at all library locations. Search the catalog and place a hold for convenient pick-up.
