On Monday, January 20 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day) Hennepin County libraries are closed, and the parking ramp at Minneapolis Central Library will also be closed for maintenance.
Minneapolis Public Library was founded in 1885 and opened in the city’s first public library building on 10th Street and Hennepin Avenue in 1889. In 1961, a larger and more modern building was constructed on the current location. A new building opened in 2006 and houses the largest collection of items in the Hennepin County Library system.
